Cakewalk and Sonar
I’ve been using Cakewalk’s software for a while now. I started with Cakewalk Professional 7 and upgraded every year or two trough most of their versions of Pro Audio and Sonar. I find it easy to use and packed with more features than I’ll ever need. For a while they really did a great job with adding new features for new versions, but lately I’m not sure if the upgrades have been worth the cost. In my opinion Sonar 8 trough X1 have fallen short of my expectations, and now that they are owned by Roland I doubt they’ll be making huge improvements unless they feel threatened by the competition. I still like the Sonar because it does everything I want but if I was buying my first sequencer program I might think twice before spending my money.
